Christian apprenticeship is a relational experience in which one person empowers another by sharing God-given resources. Empowerment is the transfer of the God-given resources from the spiritual parent to the apprentice. God-given resources could include wisdom, experience, important lessons, opportunities, financial resources, a modeling of habits, etc.

Three areas of leadership development that spiritual parents help with:

1. character formation: integrity, faithfulness, obedience, love, etc.
2. ministerial formation: skills needed for ministry
3. strategic formation: shaping values & philosophies which under gird our perspective of life & ministry.
