Working nights, as a milkman, I was given an opportunity to see a different side of the city. At night I would meet the scammers always asking for money and forgetting they used the same story the night before. I met people who thought they had little to contribute to society. I also met the down and outs who had given up on life.
I got to know the local dumpster divers. I talked with the givers who just wanted to help others. Unfortunately most of these people are homeless and living on the streets of our cities. They are the mean and miserable as well as the kind and gentle spirits you will meet asking for handouts. All of them need prayer. All of them need Jesus.
Life happens and only by the grace of God there go I. We all matter to God. He knows each one us by name. He communicates with us but do we listen? The times that life gets really busy are probably the most important times for us to be communicating with God. That is when I find myself in a conundrum. I know prayer is important. But is prayer enough. Praying and obedience go hand in hand. Often all we can do is pray. But there are times we need to listen as we pray and be obedient to what God is asking us to do. One thing for sure is to “never stop praying”.
